ICPPD believes that Personal Development is a lifelong process. It’s a way for people to assess their skills and qualities, consider their aims in life and set goals in order to realise and maximise their potential.

Personal Development is the conscious pursuit of personal growth by expanding self-awareness and knowledge and improving personal skills. Those skills include your mind, your body, your spirit as well as your level of success in all areas of life, however you may define that.

The ultimate goal of Personal Development is to be a self-realised human being. That means living consciously at your full potential and reaching real happiness in your life.

The aims of the course are to

  • Develop participants’ self-esteem and self-confidence
  • Learn a way to communicate that enhance relationships
  • Explore ways of behaving respectfully towards oneself and others
  • Become more mindful and improve well-being

“The degree to which I can create relationships, which facilitate the growth of others as separate persons, is a measure of the growth I have achieved in myself.”

― Carl R Rogers, On Becoming a Person: A Therapist's View of Psychotherapy

“This course on Personal Development encouraged me to strip my mind back to the truths of my life and begin to try understand and question with greater awareness my beliefs and behaviours.  I thought of the classroom as a place of great vulnerability but then you realise every person  is there to personally develop in some way and that thought alone cements a bond between strangers that is very powerful and creates a space to release – in my case – suppressed feelings and resentments without any judgement or criticism but with an appreciation and a respect for the individual.  The theory and concepts were provided in an easy to understand way and delivered by Paula who is a very competent tutor. She made me feel at ease from class 1 and that gave me the confidence to do what I was there to do. I would like to express my gratitude to ICPPD for running such a great course and continued success until we meet again.”

– Kevin Hassett, Certificate in Personal Development, Autumn 2019
