ICPPD believes that Personal Development is a lifelong process. It’s a way for people to assess their skills and qualities, consider their aims in life and set goals in order to realise and maximise their potential.

Personal Development is the conscious pursuit of personal growth by expanding self-awareness and knowledge and improving personal skills. Those skills include your mind, your body, your spirit as well as your level of success in all areas of life, however you may define that.

The ultimate goal of Personal Development is to be a self-realised human being. That means living consciously at your full potential and reaching real happiness in your life.

The aims of the course are to

  • Develop participants’ self-esteem and self-confidence
  • Learn a way to communicate that enhance relationships
  • Explore ways of behaving respectfully towards oneself and others
  • Become more mindful and improve well-being

“The degree to which I can create relationships, which facilitate the growth of others as separate persons, is a measure of the growth I have achieved in myself.”

Since its foundation, ICPPD has taken the steps necessary to ensure the delivery of a quality service in an environment that is characterised by an attitude to adult learners that is supportive and encouraging. We aim to provide an experience of learning that will develop in learners a hunger for both heart-centred wisdom and critical analysis. Our programmes are designed to be participative, experiential and to draw whenever possible on prior lived experience. The programme’s academic value is enhanced by a learning environment that is warm, vibrant, and genuine. Learners and staff interact in a mutual effort to engage in and promote the concept of lifelong learning. ICPPD’s holistic ethos underpins all interaction. This programme has been designed and is delivered, by staff who are passionate and inspired about the merit of personal development and excellence in professional counselling and psychotherapy training and education.

ICPPD is a community-based institute of learning and a recognised third level provider in the field of Counselling and Psychotherapy training and education. This Personal Development Course is the bedrock of ICPPD’s offerings and is seen as a course available to anyone interested in mental health and wellbeing.

This Personal Development Course is aimed at participants who are seeking to understand themselves more fully. This course is inclusive of all lifelong learners of all backgrounds and ages who wish to engage in psychoeducation and support in a group setting.

Perhaps you want to become more fully the human being that you are and share your unique gifts with others either personally or professionally?

  • Are you on a personal development quest?
  • Are you struggling with life or mental health issues?
  • What areas of your life would you like to focus on improving?
  • Building your self-esteem and self-confidence?
  • Improving your relationships?
  • Learning better communication skills?
  • Becoming more mindful in your daily life?

Increased personal growth and development, and good mental health are goals for many people. This includes those who suffer from problems in their relationship with others, or who suffer emotionally with feelings of low self-esteem, anxiety, or depression.  It also includes individuals who want to improve their ability to be and feel intimate and relate to others, and/or improve their general level of satisfaction with and enjoyment of living.

Personal Development deals with how you look at the world and how you see yourself in the world, which then determines how you act in the world. It’s not really important what others expect from you. What really matters is what you expect from yourself.

Personal development is, after all, a personal pursuit.

It’s about the journey.
