Certificate in Personal Development
ICPPD believes that Personal Development is a lifelong process. It’s a way for people to assess their skills and qualities, consider their aims in life and set goals in order to realise and maximise their potential.
Personal Development is the conscious pursuit of personal growth by expanding self-awareness and knowledge and improving personal skills. Those skills include your mind, your body, your spirit as well as your level of success in all areas of life, however you may define that.
The ultimate goal of Personal Development is to be a self-realised human being. That means living consciously at your full potential and reaching real happiness in your life.
The aims of the course are to
- Develop participants’ self-esteem and self-confidence
- Learn how to communicate more effectively in relationships
- Learn how to be respectful of oneself and others in relationships
- Become more mindful and improve well-being
ICPPD is a community-based institute of learning and a recognised third level provider in the field of Counselling and Psychotherapy training and education. This Personal Development Course is the bedrock of ICPPD’s offerings and is seen as a course available to anyone interested in mental health and wellbeing.
This Personal Development Course is aimed at participants who are seeking to understand themselves more fully. This course is inclusive of all lifelong learners of all backgrounds and ages who wish to engage in psychoeducation and support in a group setting.
Perhaps you want to become more fully the human being that you are and share your unique gifts with others either personally or professionally?
- Are you on a personal development quest?
- Are you struggling with life or mental health issues?
- What areas of your life would you like to focus on improving?
- Building your self-esteem and self-confidence?
- Improving your relationships?
- Learning better communication skills?
- Becoming more mindful in your daily life?
Increased personal growth and development, and good mental health are goals for many people. This includes those who suffer from problems in their relationship with others, or who suffer emotionally with feelings of low self-esteem, anxiety, or depression. It also includes individuals who want to improve their ability to be and feel intimate and relate to others, and/or improve their general level of satisfaction with and enjoyment of living.
Personal Development deals with how you look at the world and how you see yourself in the world, which then determines how you act in the world. It’s not really important what others expect from you. What really matters is what you expect from yourself.
Personal development is, after all, a personal pursuit.
It’s about the journey.

“The degree to which I can create relationships,
which facilitate the growth of others as separate persons, is a measure of the growth I have achieved in myself.”
Carl R Rogers, On Becoming a Person: A Therapist’s View of Psychotherapy

“Thank you so much for creating such a precious place where we are not seen as students rather as all being learners coming to know ourselves through such a powerful prism of wisdom and learning modelled by you and all the amazing members who co create such sacred space.”

“ICPPD didn’t just give me a career; it changed how I see myself and the world.”

“This course on Personal Development encouraged me to strip my mind back to the truths of my life and begin to try understand and question with greater awareness my beliefs and behaviours. I thought of the classroom as a place of great vulnerability but then you realise every person is there to personally develop in some way and that thought alone cements a bond between strangers that is very powerful and creates a space to release – in my case – suppressed feelings and resentments without any judgement or criticism but with an appreciation and a respect for the individual. The theory and concepts were provided in an easy to understand way and delivered by Paula who is a very competent tutor. She made me feel at ease from class 1 and that gave me the confidence to do what I was there to do. I would like to express my gratitude to ICPPD for running such a great course and continued success until we meet again.”
