Supervision is not limited to one profession. Across counselling, psychotherapy, healthcare, education, social care, pastoral work and other professional settings, supervision can provide valuable space for reflection, learning and continued professional development.
ICPPD’s Diploma in Supervision Across Professions – A Holistic Approach recognises supervision as a profession in its own right and explores how effective supervisory practice can support professionals working across a range of disciplines.
Supervision is a process of professional learning and development. Through regular and agreed support with another professional, individuals have an opportunity to reflect on their work, develop their knowledge and skills, and strengthen their professional competence.
One of the key features of this programme is its cross-professional approach. Bringing together perspectives from different professions can encourage participants to look beyond the practices of their own discipline, explore different approaches and develop a broader understanding of the role of supervision.
The programme is accredited by the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and previous graduates of the course have successfully achieved accreditation with the Supervision Association of Ireland (SAI). The programme is delivered on a part-time basis over seven weekends/15 days. Delivery is blended, combining in-person learning in Athlone with online sessions via Zoom. The programme also includes two group feedback sessions and an individual progression meeting.
