Short bio for Jude Fay

When I first qualified as a psychotherapist I was better placed than most to set up my own practice. I
had been self-employed before, I had the business knowledge and skills. But still I struggled. I have
become fascinated with how the process of creating our own practices is an ideal way of continuing
our journeys of self-development. Every aspect of self-employment provides opportunities to meet
our resistance and our shadows, to learn and grow, and this in turn, helps us to help our clients. That
process continues for me, and in addition, I work with other therapists who struggle with the same
issues. I like this subject so much that I wrote a book about it! (This Business of Therapy, A Practical
Guide to Starting, Developing and Sustaining A Therapy Practice, available from Amazon.)

A Chartered Accountant by original training, I worked in that field for 30 years, but was always
dabbling in personal development on the side. For the last 11 years I have worked with clients in
private practice in Co Kildare. I am also an accredited supervisor. I hold Post-graduate Diplomas in
Integrative and Gestalt Psychotherapy and Supervision.

What others have said about my workshops:

“Very thought provoking and supportive.”
“Learnt loads. Feeling more excited and confident about moving forward.”
“It was a very enriching and inspiring experience with beautiful people…..”
“…somehow you managed to make the business of therapy seem exciting, interesting, powerful, sexy
and humorous…”
“…I like that I can now set out my stall and set my boundaries and name my price, I feel when all of
this is done in an honest and open way it frees me up to be totally present with my client as I am not
distracted with my own stuff.”
